What Runes are... How old is Ancient... Why do they work...
Runes are ancient magical symbols recognized to be sacred and powerful by many cultures. Rune-like symbols were found in caves dating back to 1300 BC in Sweden. The Ancient Vikings believed that the Runes were the gift of Ódhinn, who discovered them after hanging nine days on Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life.
Runes were never the basis of a spoken language. As different cultures adapted the use of Runes, the meaning and the symbols were slightly changed such as Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, German Futhark etc.. What remains the same over time and in all the cultures is their purpose... Magic! Sometimes carved into magical tools like a wand, written on paper to be burned, carved into stones to be cast in divination or etched on metal and worn as an amulet. I choose to use the Viking Runes for this collection of Amulets because wether you look at celtic or druid runes, Viking seems to be the root source of this wisdom.
Each piece is handmade with specific intention and energy flow. I pair the meaning of the Runic Script with the energy of matching gemstones to further enhance the effective nature of the Amulet.
